Indiana’s DNR is conducting ongoing aerial warfare to combat the invasive and destructive spongy moth. Aerial mating disruption treatments conducted by Indiana Department of Natural Resources divisions of Forestry and Entomology & Plant Pathology to slow the spread of spongy moth are planned for June 19. Treatments may occur earlier in the week or later depending on weather.

From my earliest days, I’ve had a fascination with turtles. It all started when I was 3 years old on vacation in Michigan with my parents. Wandering the lakeshore under mom’s watchful eye, I looked down at my feet in the water and saw something round, dark colored, with tiny legs. Reaching down, I snatched up the baby snapping turtle and ran to show mom and dad. They were thrilled… or at least I thought so.
