Around 50 more properties south of Merritt along the Coquihalla Highway have been put on evacuation alert Friday morning due to the growing Brunswick Creek wildfire complex.

The entire community of Lower Nicola has been placed on evacuation alert with some ordered to leave as the Ainslie Creek wildfire continues to spread eastward.

Cooler temperatures and humid conditions have caused a slowdown in the Ainslie Creek wildfire moving towards Merritt, with no significant growth since July 24.

With a warm and dry trend expected to begin today and strengthen through to Friday, BC Wildfire Service is expecting fire behaviour to once again increase in the Brunswick Creek wildfire complex.
