A bill that aims to bring stability to the school budgeting process made its way out of the House Finance Committee on Tuesday.

The Juneau School Board will consider what to add back to its budget for this fiscal year during a regular meeting Tuesday night.

The bill would allow school districts to build budgets based on known enrollment numbers.

Board members cited concerns around impacts on families and a lack of data showing improvement.

The Alaska State Board of Education and Early Development unanimously approved a new master’s in teaching program for Indigenous languages at the University of Alaska Southeast on Thursday.

“Naakéedáx̱ Haa X̱oonx’í Yán”, which means “All of our friends from the North” in Lingít, is a comic book created by students, teachers, elders and an alumnus of the Tlingit Culture, Language and Literacy program in Juneau.
