West Bengal Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh has alleged that land belonging to several North Bengal tea gardens was illegally transferred and sold during the previous Trinamool Congress government, with the proceeds allegedly diverted to the party fund for elections.

West Bengal plans to release a tiger into Buxa Tiger Reserve on October 2 as part of efforts to revive the big-cat population in North Bengal under NTCA guidelines. The state also plans to plant three crore mangroves in the Sunderbans between September and December and aims to plant 10 crore trees across West Bengal this year.

A massive fire at a Kolkata hotel killed at least nine people early Wednesday. Eighty individuals were successfully rescued from the burning building by emergency services. The Prime Minister and Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of life. A special investigation team has been formed to probe the incident thoroughly. This incident follows a similar fatal fire in Tarapith a few days prior.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Siliguri for a three-day visit to West Bengal. He will attend inauguration and foundation-laying ceremonies for various Sashastra Seema Bal projects. He praised CM Suvendu Adhikari who has fulfilled 43% of the poll promises made in the BJPs manifesto ‘Sankalp Patra in just 100 days.

This strategic move aims to leverage declining capacity in traditional shipbuilding nations. Expansion projects at GRSE and YIL will bolster indigenous capabilities significantly. Thirty-one West Bengal tourists, including Mukul Roy's daughter-in-law, are missing after a disaster. The group, which started their journey on August 21, was heading for Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra. One tourist has been successfully rescued from the affected area so far. Sharmistha Bhowmik Roy was reportedly ten kilometers from the disaster zone. West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has sent reports to the PMO.
