Ms. Lydia Ray, age 79, of Lyons, died Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness. She was born in Augusta, Georgia and lived in Toombs County her whole life. She was a homemaker and a loving caregiver to her family. She was a member of Lyons Church of God of Prophecy for over 50 years. She enjoyed planting, gardening and taking care of her pets. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Ray Fleming; parents, James Lorenzo Bass and Dorothy Hall Bass; brother, Roland Bass and his wife Cyndee.

Wayne Michael Page, four month old son of Jared Page and Danielle Cannady of Oak Park, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ron Cannady.

Shelby Mosley-McClelland, age 26, of the McNatt Falls Community, died Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after a sudden illness. She was a native of Toombs County and lived at McNatt Fall all of her life. She was a 2019 graduate of Toombs County High School where she was a band member and a proud Redcoat. She worked as a CNA for Always Caring Healthcare. She was a member of Uvalda Baptist Church. She collected gnomes and was a devoted mother to her son. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Willie and Nellie Yarbrough.

Mr. Alvin Hitchcock, age 75, of the Cedar Crossing Community, died Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Hawkinsville. He was a native of Toombs County, living in Cedar Crossing all of his life and was a 1969 graduate of Toombs Central School. Early his life, he worked at Edwin I. Hatch Plant during its construction, and in the early 1980s, he began a thirty-three year career with Toombs County, first as road commissioner, and then later retiring as maintenance superintendent. He served three terms as Toombs County Commissioner. He and his wife were owners of A&K Mini Mall and Kaye’s Country Kitchen, both in Cedar Crossing, as well as Altamaha Restaurant in Uvalda. He enjoyed fishing at Lake Oconee, farming, raising cows, going to livestock sales, traveling, and traveling to eat.

Mrs. Linda Sue Fowler Beasley Santrock, age 69, of the Cedar Crossing Community, died Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Memorial Health in Savannah following an extended illness. She was a native of Toombs County, growing up in Cedar Crossing where she lived most of her life. She was a 1975 graduate of Toombs Central School, and retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections as a correctional officer and later as a records clerk. She attended Cedar Crossing Baptist Church, and she enjoyed reading and sewing.

Mrs. Margaret Vaughn Burton Crews, age 86, of Vidalia, died Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness. She was a native of Emanuel County, growing up in Oak Park and was a 1957 graduate of Oak Park High School. She lived in Lyons and Vidalia most of her life and was a lifelong member of Olney Primitive Baptist Church in Oak Park. She worked twenty years as lead supervisor at Oxford Industries, salesperson at Farmers Furniture in Vidalia for twelve years, and she and her late husband were owners of Crews Transport Escort for ten years. She enjoyed games, especially Bingo and cards, bowling, shopping, and being with her girlfriends.

Mr. John Henry Morris, age 48, of the Johnson Corner Community, died Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after a sudden illness. He was a native of Toombs County, living ten years in Augusta, two years in Linden, Tennessee, and in Johnson Corner most of his life. He was a 1996 graduate of Linden High School. He was a carpenter and farmer, and he attended Victory-Cobb Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf, woodworking, and was a food connoisseur.
