Faith leaders are urging volunteers to come to Springfield from Wednesday, Aug. 26, through Sunday, Aug. 30, calling for "faithful witnesses" as Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainments of local Haitian immigrants escalate.

Following a record-breaking month of federal immigration detentions nationwide, at least 30 Springfield Haitians have been arrested since Aug. 1.

More than a dozen Springfield residents decried Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests in a rare show of unity during the public comment period of the city commission meeting Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Faith-based advocacy group Springfield G92 is asking for the immediate release of local Haitian pastor Gilbert Joubert Adrien from Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention.
