Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – The dry and very warm pattern continues into the weekend. A “less hot” day is in store for the region as highs will reach the middle to upper 80s under mostly sunny skies. The high temperatures Tuesday were in the 90s from Bend to Madras and east to Prineville, today it will be the middle to upper 80s.

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – The heat is on as we move into the middle of July. Highs this week will top out over 90 each day as warmer than normal air arrives from the south. Clouds are present in eastern Oregon as well as a few showers as monsoonal moisture rides around the western edge of the massive high- pressure dome over the middle of the country.

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – The heat dome in the middle of the country is continuing to impact the Pacific Northwest. The impacts come on the periphery of the ridge as moisture migrates around the edge. The heat is also continuing to arrive in the region allowing for afternoon “pop-up” storms to develop.

In Bend, we have crossed 90° eight out of 15 days so far this month, over half. The rest of the week and into the weekend will continue to be hot. A chance for upper 80s verses the low 90s is possible Thursday, but Friday we jump right back to the 90s through the weekend and into next week.

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Central Oregon Fire has released the observations from yesterday's thunderstorm activity and it is not good. Over 50 new fire starts, many less than an acre, but some have grown to over 1000, are now being suppressed. An estimated 2000 strikes were noted as the storms moved from south to north across the area. The largest concentration of fires is in Wheeler County where 5 fires over 100 acres are burning in the western portion of the state and several smaller fires in the east. This will be an active day for firefighters as more fires are revealed as the area dries out.
