When you’re sisters and musicians from rural North Georgia and one summer find out at an Alabama family reunion that Edgar Allan Poe is distant kin, you run with it. As point of pride and pinnacle of Southern Gothic, you find a way to link that icon with the relevance of your current endeavors. Megan and Rebecca Lovell did just that when choosing a memorable moniker for their American roots rock band. Larkin Poe brings their smoldering, Grammy-winning sounds and smart songwriting to the Savannah Music Festival, Wednesday, March 25, at the Lucas Theatre, 32 Abercorn Street, Savannah. Homeschooled on 70-acres of rolling countryside near Calhoun, Ga., the Lovell sisters grew a fondness for nature and a knack for learning instruments. Their music-savvy parents supported the girls’ nascent interests, and by ages 3 and 5, Rebecca and Megan were studying classical violin and piano. Their older sister Jessica quickly developed an ear and fingers for the violin. In a few years, they were all in a small youth symphony and singing in the church choir.
