Luke Currier grew up in Coon Rapids and was a member with his parents and two siblings of St. Paul in Ham Lake. At 19, he is the oldest child in the family. Growing up, his parish is where he dove deeper into his faith, Currier said.

The Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis is inviting people through Aug. 9 to sign a poster-card for Bishop Kevin Kenney as he prepares to begin treatment for lung cancer. The card can be signed in the Basilica's Pope John XXIII Gallery after weekend Masses.

Jason Adkins, executive director of the Minnesota Catholic Conference, served on the executive committee of the National Association of State Catholic Conference Directors (NASCCD). He is now the president of the NASCCD and will serve until August 2028.

Jena Kolles, the Vacation Bible School (VBS) coordinator and director of family catechesis at St. Paul in Ham Lake, is a lifelong member of the parish. She now has four children and has been working in the parish for five years.

Lacy Apfelbeck, founder of Edge of the Red Sea Ministry — a Christian nonprofit based in St. Francis that helps families and individuals find physical, emotional and spiritual healing — said her ministry does a lot of care for the mind.

At a young age, Blessed Stanley Rother and his siblings were willing to put their lives in the Lord's hands, Archbishop Bernard Hebda said. Father Rother was convinced early on in life that the Lord might be calling him to be a priest, the archbishop explained.

Father Rother was a priest from the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, who was martyred in rural Guatemala in 1981. Father Rother and Archbishop Flynn met while attending Mount St. Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Later, Father Rother's bishop gave him permission to go to Guatemala to minister as a missionary, Archbishop Flynn said in the 2017 episode.
