Tim Denson, Dexter Fisher, LaKeisha Gantt, Sharon Miller and Mara Zuniga gathered at the Athens-Clarke County Library on Mar. 26 for a mayoral candidate town hall, with questions focused on housing affordability, budgeting, public safety, health care, water, transportation, ICE, political affiliation and Flock cameras.
The Athens-Clarke County Commission is considering a proposal to raise the mayor’s salary by almost 50%. An ad hoc committee on charter compensation recommends setting the mayor’s salary at three times a commissioner’s salary—putting it at about $90,000.
