Write in votes in the Democratic presidential primary in Philadelphia this year exceeded write in votes from the 2020 election by nearly seven to one.

Nearly 10% of Philadelphia Democrats cast write-in votes in Tuesday's presidential primary. Most of those votes came from left-leaning parts of the city, suggesting a protest against Joe Biden.

Although the outcome of last Tuesday's Democratic presidential primary was never in doubt, that didn't stop almost 130,000 Pennsylvania Democrats

Tina Lawson, a Democrat who took office in January, said Friday that her office had cleared the backlog, which had not been previously disclosed to the public.

The GOP share of mail ballots in Pennsylvania increased slightly in last week's primary, after months of efforts from party leaders to overcome years of negative messaging.

According to data from the Pennsylvania Department of State, GOP voters accounted for roughly 26% of the mail ballots returned to election offices by 8 p.m. on primary night last week.

President Joe Biden trails former President Donald Trump on key issues, but he leads him by a wide margin on the issue of abortion. Biden's reelection could hinge on whether he capitalizes on it.

Even as key economic indicators in the U.S. trend up, Pennsylvania voters expressed a lack of faith in the economy and said they would trust former President Donald Trump with the issue more than President Joe Biden.

“This delay was Montgomery County this time. It could very well be another county the next time,” said Montgomery County Commissioner Jamila Winder.

The other names Philly Democrats chose over Joe Biden ranged from Donald Trump to Jason Kelce.
