Buy Now An unknown number of people were inside of a truck that flipped over while coming down a hill on Highway 81 north of Yankton late Friday afternoon. At approximately 4:45 p.m., a call was received of a southbound vehicle pulling a trailer that had lost control and overturned in the Poverty Valley area. Firefighters and first responders from Yankton and Lesterville were summoned to the scene. The number of injuries was unknown at press time, but individuals are believed to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The southbound lane was completely closed for more than an hour. The Yankton County Sheriff’s Department and Yankton County Emergency Management also responded to the incident.

The event, sponsored by the Yankton Community Library Foundation and the Mead Museum, spotlights historic figures from Yankton’s past. Other “ghosts” on hand included Caroline Burleigh (portrayed by Chloe Beltrand), Charles Gurney (Rob Marlow), Esther Kenyon (Kathy Brown) and Josiah A. Pierson (David Brown).
