But the night's most anticipated recognition — for Herbert Hoover director and Dellwood Mayor Reggie Jones — became a memorial instead. Jones died just days before he was set to be celebrated for three decades of service.

The family of Dellwood Mayor Reggie L. Jones has announced the final services for the longtime public servant, who died on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, at the age of 53. Jones was a devoted husband, father, brother, friend, deacon, mentor and a steady presence in the community he served for decades.

Reggie Jones was supposed to be at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis' annual recognition ceremony Tuesday night, receiving the culminating honor for 30 years of service.
