On June 1, 2026, Governor Bob Ferguson signed Executive Order 26-01. It directs the Washington State Women’s Commission to work with cabinet agencies to implement appropriate accommodations for people experiencing menopause, as well as create guidance and training resources for state agencies and other public and private employers.

As early as Thursday, the Supreme Court could release their decision around so-called grace periods for mail-in ballots. Washington, along with 13 other states, allows mail-in ballots that are postmarked by Election Day but arrive later to be counted. An additional 15 states offer grace periods under certain circumstances. If the Supreme Court rules grace periods are unconstitutional, it could have a significant impact on voting in Washington — and ballots for the primary election are going out in less than a month. This week, the Supreme Court of the United States voted 5-4 in favor of a Mississippi law that allows that state to count ballots postmarked by Election Day that arrive within five business days. A decision the other way would have affected similar laws in more than half the states, including Washington.
