The Tule Fire, which erupted south of Toppenish has rapidly grown to more than 20,000 acres, with no containment reported. The fire, first reported around 1:00 p.m. Sunday, initially burned about 5,000 acres. Despite the big growth, no evacuations have been ordered, and fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

Even though fireworks have been banned for years in the city they cause problems every year. Over the last several years Yakima Firefighters have been busy with numerous small brush and grass fires caused by illegal fireworks.
