Councillor Gower shares an abundance of information in this week's update relative to meetings, events and more in the community.

In this second round of treatment, starting August 10th, 185 parks, hydro corridors and stormwater management facilities are scheduled to receive treatment of Glyphosate or Navius Flex.

What visitors experienced over the weekend was the culmination of months of work by a dedicated team of volunteers.

Two local businesses are coming together to offer visitors a unique way to experience the Ottawa region from both the sky and the vineyard. Looking for that ideal day trip? Take a scenic flight in Ottawa Aviation Advenures' vintage 1940 Waco Aircraft over the Canadian Tire Centre and some light aerobatic maneuvers to experience the thrill that aviation brings to people and then head over to KIN Vineyards to enjoy a flight of their homemade wine.

It was an afternoon of celebration for the community on August 15th at the CARDELRec Complex-Goulbourn. Erica Wiebe was in town to celebrate her ten-year anniversary with Stittsville residents for having won the Women's Wrestling Gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

This week Councillor Gower invites residents to the community's annual Pride Week Flag Raising ceremony on August 23rd. He shares information on the upcoming OC Transpo fall schedule changes. Huntmar Drive just south of Palladium Drive will see some lane closures for the City's culvert renewal work. Pond maintenance will be taking place at the Granite Ridge Stormwater Management Facility on Iber Road. Councillor Gower is sharing a new event he is launching in September – Stittsville Neighbour Days – to encourage residents to organize small get-togethers in their neighbourhood.

Don't forego your opportunity to make your choice and voice known – vote on October 26, 2026 and attend the local debate taking place on Thursday, September 17th from 6:00 – 9:00pm at the Stittsville United Church to meet and hear each candidate in person.

Transparency and accountability are not obstacles to progress; they are the foundation of public confidence. An engaged community is one of the greatest strengths any municipality can have.
