The Victoria Police Department is inviting neighborhoods and apartment communities to participate in National Night Out this fall, an annual event aimed at strengthening relationships between residents and first responders.

The City of Victoria will break ground next month on renovations to the Gary Moses Community Center, marking the start of a multiphase project that will eventually close the facility for nearly a year.

To officially open the 2026 volleyball season, the top-ranked Goliad Tigerettes traveled to Victoria to take on the Victoria East Lady Titans, winning convincingly in a sweep. As the sun rose over the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent (FBGC) on Wednesday morning, a truck pulled into the loading dock. In the truck was a 40,000 pound donation of food from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, one of the 250 food trucks donated nationwide in celebration of America 250.

Refugio Mayor Wanda Dukes and City Secretary Callie Shreckengost were arrested Wednesday by the Texas Rangers on allegations of misapplication of fiduciary funds, according to KRIS 6 in Corpus Christi, which first reported the arrests.

On Thursday, the City of Victoria hosted the Small Business Resource Fair in collaboration with the Texas A&M University-Victoria Small Business Development Center and the Victoria Chamber of Commerce. Two Refugio City Council members were arrested Thursday morning, one day after the town's mayor and city secretary were arrested in a separate action involving Texas Rangers.

Several area municipalities will hold city council meetings this week, with officials set to consider budgets, tax rates and other city business.

The Victoria City Council will meet Tuesday to consider several items, including the first phase of the Community Center project, proposed data center regulations and a contract for the city's annual financial audit.
