WYOMISSING, Pa. — A new class of nearly 250 Penn State Berks students will receive their baccalaureate and associate degrees at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, at the Santander Arena in downtown Reading, when Berks hosts its spring 2024 commencement ceremony. The honorary keynote speaker this year will be Lucine Sihelnik, president and CEO of the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance. Sihelnik is a leader in community and economic development and has spent the last 20 years working to advocate for sustainability in Berks County.

This spring, Penn State Berks students have developed two new apps that won awards in Penn State's HackPSU Spring 2024 competition. They also found time to serve the local community by providing education on cybersecurity issues and best practices to seniors.

When you meet Rogelio Flores, it’s hard to believe that he once considered dropping out of high school. The Reading High School graduate will cross the stage to earn his baccalaureate degree in electro-mechanical engineering technology, with a minor in entrepreneurship and innovation, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, during the Penn State Berks spring commencement ceremony at the Santander Arena in Reading.

WYOMISSING, Pa. — Alina Rodriguez, a Penn State Berks information technology major with a focus on AI and data analytics and a 4.0 GPA, was selected as this year's student marshal. She will deliver a speech titled “What's the Point?” at the college's commencement ceremony at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 4, at the Santander Arena.

WYOMISSING, Pa. — For the first time in the college's history, Penn State Berks will feature a student soloist at its spring commencement ceremony. Malinda Garcia has been selected to sing the Penn State Alma Mater and the National Anthem at the ceremony at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 4, at the Santander Arena in Reading.

WYOMISSING, Pa. — Daniel George accomplished everything he set out to do at Penn State Berks in terms of academics, leadership and service. He will cross the stage to accept his baccalaureate degree in mechanical engineering, with a minor in mathematics applications, at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 4, during the college's commencement ceremony at the Santander Arena in Reading.

During the Penn State Berks academic awards ceremony in April, three students received the Young Investigator Award for their research. They included Angela Bonopane, Matthew Kauffman and Morgan Lusch. All three graduated on May 4.

WYOMISSING, Pa. — Lolita Paff, associate professor of business and economics at Penn State Berks, is the recipient of Penn State's 2024 Milton S. Eisenhower Award for Distinguished Teaching. The award is presented to only two faculty members annually. It is the most prestigious award that a faculty member can receive, recognizing excellence in teaching and student support.
