Colorado legislators are convening in a special session to address an $800 million budget deficit, which Democrats blame on the congressional budget and Republicans attribute to years of overspending. The state faces a $1.2 billion loss in income tax revenue, mainly on the corporate side, with proposals to cover part of the shortfall through changes to corporate taxes. Legislative leaders are suggesting that it is up to Gov. Jared Polis to make cuts, rather than having legislators review each agency's budget. The session will also address artificial intelligence, with business and labor groups watching closely as legislators propose fixes to last year's law on consumer issues around discrimination in AI.
