Ameren Illinois turned off the power for customers in parts of Godfrey last night and into this morning. The scheduled outage for what the company called “emergency repairs” was planned for 10pm Wednesday to 5am today for streets and neighborhoods off West Delmar. Clarification from an Ameren spokesman states that the emergency was actually to relocate two power poles for the roundabout.

An East Alton man suffered minor injuries, but the driver of a wrong-way vehicle was seriously injured in a crash Sunday night on southbound Highway 367 near Chambers Road. The Missouri Highway Patrol says the injured East Alton man is 63 years old and his vehicle was struck by a driver who was fleeing a traffic stop from Moline Acres Police, for allegedly driving without headlights and a flat tire.

Teachers in the Alton School District had a chance to shop for their classrooms this week, thanks to additional money budgeted by the school district. Teachers shopped in shifts on Monday and Tuesday at the Godfrey Walmart where they got to spend $150 each, courtesy of the district.

A car drove into a closed business storefront in Edwardsville on Tuesday morning. The minivan crashed through the front of the Honey Baked Ham store on Troy Road and an Edwardsville Police squad car was also hit during the incident, resulting in a minor injury to an officer.

A Carrollton man has been charged in Madison County Court after a private group used a sting operation to find who they believe to be online predators. 39 year old Aaron Settles is alleged to have tried to meet up with who he thought was a 14 year old on the parking lot of Walgreens in Upper Alton after contacting them online.

Roxana teachers are getting ready to return to the classroom, but have also authorized a strike. Members of the Roxana Education Association voted August 4th to reject the latest offer from the Roxana School Board with over 91% saying "no" according to union officials. A vote was then taken to authorize a strike with more than 95% of members voting in favor.
