Dozens of dancers took to a temporary stage throughout Sunday afternoon, performing traditional Thai routines and modern interpretations of classic dances during Taste of Thailand, the third annual Portland Thai Festival, on July 26, 2026. The free two-day celebration packed Northeast Second Avenue outside the Yard Apartments with Thai food vendors, live performances and Muay Thai demonstrations.

Firefighters, engines and helicopters battle the Brewer, Green Mountain and Crosswhite West fires near Prineville in Central Oregon from July 25-27, 2026. The lightning-caused Grasshopper fire has spread across Wasco and Hood River counties since igniting in July, sending massive smoke columns over the region and drawing a large response of firefighters, aircraft and heavy equipment. By Aug. 11, the fire had burned 77,311 acres and was 20% contained, with 1,680 personnel assigned to the response.
