Happy Easter! I'm starting this column with a classic Irish Blessing: “May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields; and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand”.
After diverging from the normal sequence of events due to timeliness of Mardi Gras and St. Patrick's Day, I am back on my normal sequencing of events. It has been a while since the 16th annual Dancing with the High Point Stars, but it is so much fun to reminisce about that memorable event.
I just can't believe how quickly this year is passing. It seems inconceivable that May is quickly approaching. It was in late February that a celebratory dinner was given in honor of the 2025 High Point Enterprise Citizen of the Year, Lisa Hawley. She is not only the owner of one of the area's favorite restaurants, Southern Roots in Jamestown, but most importantly she has a heart of gold. Her nonprofit Feeding Lisa's kids has become synonymous with love, heart, empathy, passion and compassion. Throughout her life, Lisa has felt the need to help others, and she has done so with courage, conviction, kindness and, as the song goes, “with a little help from my friends.”
This was just the second annual luncheon fundraiser for Working Wardrobe, and already it has become a highly anticipated and attended event.
