If you have plans for America’s 250th birthday, the forecast is looking very cooperative across the Mobile and Pensacola area.

The dangerous heat isn’t going anywhere just yet. Wednesday will bring another scorching day with a high of 93 degrees, but the heat index will feel closer to 105 due to humidity.

A large plume of Saharan dust is making its way westward across the tropical Atlantic, heading toward the Caribbean and eventually parts of the Gulf Coast and Southeast.

Expect a mix of sunshine and afternoon clouds with highs climbing into the middle 90s.

After a stretch of hotter and drier weather, the Gulf Coast is transitioning back to a more typical summertime pattern.

An active summer weather pattern will continue across the Gulf Coast through Tuesday, bringing numerous showers and thunderstorms to the Mobile-Pensacola area.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon, with the highest coverage across inland counties of southwest Alabama and southeast Mississippi.

The bigger debate isn’t whether to stop changing the clocks — most Americans support that — but which time should become permanent.

An upper-level ridge of high pressure remains firmly in control across the Gulf Coast, keeping rain chances lower than normal for mid-July.
