Northern Territory Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro has fired back at claims that federal Labor MP Luke Gosling's arrest was politically motivated, calling the insinuation "untrue" and "disrespectful to police".

The Northern Territory police commissioner has fired back at claims from federal MP Luke Gosling's legal team that his arrest on assault allegations was politicised, saying it was out of line and had no basis in fact.
