The Texas Rangers haven't yet hit their stride in the season's first month but they were able to even the current homestand by winning a series against Cincinnati.

While Washington did get swept by the Dodgers at home in the series before sweeping Miami, they also took two of three from Houston and two of three from the Dodgers in Los Angeles. The Nats have only a slightly worse winning percentage than the Rangers, but the NL East is a powerhouse division, with the Braves and Phillies boasting the best records in baseball at the moment.

The Ranger arms allowed just two runs total to the Nationals over this three-game set, and yet, they were still somehow unable to secure a sweep.

The series against the Kansas City Royals that started a three-city, ten-game road trip would be another one to be classified under the category of nothing is easy.

Oakland is right behind Texas in the standings, just two games out of second place after a surprisingly successful start to their campaign.

this week was just plain weird. There was a little of everything – a couple of blowouts, some really adventurous defense, rockets with nothing to show for it, and the obvious sun-aided hits.

The bats should get a pretty good test of their firepower though at hitter-friendly Coors Field against one of the worst teams in the majors.
