Whitney Stakes can easily be called the best American race of the year so far. The all-important affair is topped by the streaking Dubai World Cup hero Magnitude but also includes the reigning Horse of the Year Sovereignty, the filly champion Nitrogen, as well as Grade 1 winners Baeza, Antiquarian and White Abarrio. The nine-furlong affair is the main event among four consecutive Grade 1 races on Saturday at Saratoga.
Sovereignty spotted the field a dozen lengths, circled everyone on the far turn and drew off through an empty homestretch Saturday to win the Grade 1, $1 million Whitney Stakes at Saratoga.

A field of seven turf runners will try to win the Grade 1, $750,000 Christophe Clement Turf Stakes on Saturday at Saratoga.
