Gov. Tim Walz celebrated the new “Grandparents' Happy Hour” law with a ceremonial bill signing on Tuesday. Walz had officially signed the bill into law back in April.

According to the Cook County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Forest Service personnel flew over the wildfire around 10 a.m. and estimated it to be about 2,500 acres.

“All of our animals are the same way they appreciate a nice cool treat on a hot day,” said Waters.

The Gov. Walz and the Council also received a briefing with about where things stand with the wildfires.

The most recent incident happened Wednesday morning after a man barricaded himself in a building after threatening two movers. That incident ended with the man peacefully surrendering.

SNF said the closure is meant to keep people safe as hot, dry and windy conditions are making fires unpredictable and hard to control.

The company is also giving discounted trailer rates for residents evacuating areas affected by the wildfires burning in and around the Superior National Forest, including several inside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
