NEWPORT–The North Country softball team got the home portion of their season underway on Saturday morning with a visit from the Thetford Academy Panthers. The Falcons were coming off of a pair of losses on the road earlier this week, while Thetford was looking to make it a clean sweep of Orleans County teams after beating Lake Region in Ranger Country on Tuesday. After the Panthers took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third, North Country scored seven times in the home half of the frame, which would be the key inning in their eventual 12-5 win.
