(CENTREVILLE) - St. Joseph County's finances are doing well. The St. Joseph County Commission received the Fiscal Year 2025 audit presentation during a recent meeting. A representative from Gabridge & Company says the County received an unmodified opinion which is the highest that can be given.

(LAGRANGE) - LaGrange County Area Transit is asking for an increase in their 2027 budget. During last week's meeting, LaGrange County Council On Aging Executive Director Cheri Perkins presented information on LCAT to the LaGrange County Commission. Perkins shares some information on the number of riders LCAT assisted last year. She says LCAT provided rides to approximately 40,000 people last year, with 85% of those riders were being taken to work and are paying to ride this bus. She says this is important to the community.

(LANSING) - The Michigan Supreme Court has ruled that the odor of marijuana itself is not enough to establish probable cause to search a vehicle without a warrant. The Court decided by a 5-2 vote the police can no longer rely just solely on the smell of marijuana to justify searches under the automobile exception to the warrant requirement.

(UNDATED) - Voters will see some contested State and Federal races on the August Primary Ballot in St. Joseph County. In the race for the Republican nomination for 36th District State Representative, incumbent Steve Carra is facing a challenge from Luke Lori and Max Coon.

(WHITE PIGEON TOWNSHIP) - A man is dead following a head on crash in White Pigeon Township. The Michigan State Police say just after 12 PM Tuesday, they were called to a two vehicle crash on U.S. 12 near Lima Road. The preliminary investigation shows that an SUV was heading east on U.S. 12 and attempted to pass two other vehicles. The SUV struck an oncoming box truck head on.

(SHIPSHEWANA) - A Shipshewana woman has been arrested in connection with the death of her infant. The Indiana State Police, in coordination with the LaGrange County Sheriff's Office, the Shipshewana Marshal's Office and the LaGrange County Coroner's Office have concluded an investigation into the death of an infant at a residence in Shipshewana.

(CENTREVILLE) - St. Joseph County Sheriff Chad Spence is warning residents to be alert for an increase in phone scams targeting elderly citizens. These scams involve individuals falsely claiming to represent law enforcement, the courts, or correctional facilities.

(COLDWATER) - The case of a Coldwater Township man is heading to trial. Branch County District Court officials say 51-year-old Richard Hernandez's case had been moved on to Circuit Court following a preliminary examination. He is charged with multiple felony counts including possession with intent to deliver 45 kilograms or more of marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture marijuana product and maintaining a drug house.
