He got his break when he met Tim Reid through the South Side Jaycees. They did a drug education presentation for kids. It was a hit. People said they should be professional comedians. They performed as Tim & Tom, one of the nation's first multiracial comedy acts.

He was the powerful head of patronage for Mayors Richard J. Daley and Michael Bilandic before leading the Chicago Board of Trade.

“You name a funeral director in Chicago,” said Leili McMurrough, president of the Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, where he taught. “They were all taught by Tim. Very few people have the privilege of shaping a profession. And Tim did exactly that.”

He was called the “glue” in the Belgian community and in retirement found community in the gatherings of young people at pubs who considered him family.

From steam trains to small-town America, he worked to preserve the images for future generations. A longtime north suburban resident, he died at a retirement home in Evanston.

He was a pioneer in Black hair care products and, from his South Side headquarters, became a beacon of Black accomplishment.

Mr. Biebel flew under the radar when it came to courtship and dinner table high jinks as the seventh of nine siblings in a North Side Irish-Catholic family.

Perhaps most importantly, Eva Giglio loves to read books. She also has experience as a teacher and administrator with Chicago Public Schools.

For decades, the longtime Highland Park resident was a familiar face in the seats behind home plate at Wrigley Field, easily recognized by his pink hat.

In 1990 Ms. Morello founded Parents for Rock and Rap, a group that sought to protect the free speech of musicians in the face of a censorship movement.
