You’d be lying if you said bugs don’t freak you out. An infestation is a horror movie all on its own, your home and mind invaded by milling little creatures. So creature features, when done right, can really terrify.

In 2010, M, Night Shyamalan hit a career low point with The Last Airbender. The elemental aspects of the original series fell flat in the live-action film – the world didn’t feel credible, so the actors looked like they were playacting instead of properly embodying these characters. The movie needed to cram 20 episodes of worldbuilding and characterisation into a 1 hour 43 minute-long feature, which is basically impossible, so it was always going to feel lackluster in comparison. He followed this with After Earth in 2013 – which was a critical flop – and The Visit in 2015.

The Fall Guy is a fun, breezy watch, and has everything you could possibly want in a summer blockbuster.

Challengers isn’t a serious tennis movie, so if you’re going into the movie expecting a sports drama, you’ll be disappointed. Instead, it#s using tennis as a metaphor to discuss the relationships between three people: Tashi (Zendaya), Art (Mike Faist) and Patrick (Josh O’Connor). The narrative is non-linear, and flows very much like a tennis match. We’re thrown back and forth between the past, the present, and the moments in between. It’s impressive that the story can flow like this and not confuse viewers, and director Luca Guadagnino uses visual cues like hair styles/lengths to help us keep track of where we’re at in the story.

The news of Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine in a rom-com together is an instant sign-me-up. Galitzine has made quite a name for himself as a romantic leading man, and while the movies he’s starred in haven’t been the best movies to ever walk the earth, he’s always been one of the better parts of it. Anne Hathaway is just a fantastic and incredible actress, so even if the movie is a car wreck, I felt confident that I would still enjoy myself. And I was right. The movie did need a bit more substance and development, since it felt rushed at some points, but Hathaway and Galitzine make it worth our while.

When we first see our protagonist Jessica Murdock (Hayley Erin), she has blood on her and she’s on the run. With the shiner on her face and an engagement ring on her finger, we’re not sure what exactly the picture is. Did she accidentally kill her fiancé, and is on the lam because of that, or is there more to it? This mystery is what drives the narrative of the film, as we move between Jessica’s determined desire to cross the Canadian border, and the past she’s trying to outrun. Jessica doesn’t reveal much to the people she encounters while she’s on the move, and lets them arrive at their own conclusions about her story.
