Representatives from the Alberta government are taking the province's pitch for a new oil pipeline to communities in BC and Alberta as they prepare to submit a proposal to the federal major projects office on July 1.

The Bloc Québécois, NDP and Green Party joined a cadre of environmental groups on Parliament Hill on June 9 to condemn Alberta Premier Danielle Smith's proposed oil pipeline to the West Coast.

Protesters gathered at the centennial flame in Ottawa and called for a stop to the project, citing concerns about land expropriation, the project’s high costs, inadequate consultation and a lack of transparency from the federal government.

In a letter to Canadian pension funds, some First Nations leaders are called on pension funds to clearly state their position on investing in LNG Canada Phase 1 and 2 by June 25 and requested meetings with the funds’ lead decision-makers to further discuss their rights and the financial and legal risks outlined in the letter.
