In perfect political double-speak, Jim Dantona, candidate for 2nd District supervisor, talks out of both sides of his mouth in supporting offshore wind energy while simultaneously opposing industrial ports proposed for Morro Bay and/or Port San Luis/Avila Beach. This position is pure fantasy. Mr. Dantona knows enough to understand that industrial ports on the Central Coast are needed for California's overall offshore wind energy goals. In fact, according to reports from the California Coastal Commission, the California Energy Commission, State Lands Commission, and others, a local operations and maintenance (O&M) port is essential for the development of the Morro Bay wind energy area off the coast of San Simeon. This port will likely include tow-in capacity for the massive turbine blades in need of repair, and will burden our communities with noise, air, light and water pollution for many years to come.
