Overall, it is unlikely that the policies in the ROAD to Housing Act will satisfy many critics of federal housing policy over the past few decades.

If Congress wants more Americans to flourish, it should make changes to the INVEST Act that correctly identify where reform is truly needed. Only then can the legislation genuinely increase opportunities for issuers and investors alike.

Raising the cap is a solution in search of a problem. Main Street depositors do not benefit from raising the cap, and Congress would do well to finally let this idea die.

If Congress truly wants to help community banks thrive, they'll trust that competitive markets—not government guarantees—are the best way to deliver banking services to Americans, wherever they live. They'll roll back the regulatory burdens that are strangling banks and get the federal government out of the business of picking winners and losers.

Believe it or not, the folks at the Fed don’t control everything, and they can’t make interest rates whatever they want them to be.

Given that Senator Warren has historically criticized businesses with too much power, it's a shame that she doesn't see the value in new competitors in the financial system. That is something that should be welcomed, not chased away. If nothing else, Senator Warren should welcome the efforts of someone who bases his life on helping people.

It needs to stop hunting for scapegoats and start clearing the way for the private market to build.
