In celebration of the 250 th Anniversary of our country, local members of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will highlight the patriots buried in Southeast Missouri.

Leonard Welker was probably born in Germany around 1750. Welker was married to Catherine Edlinger and, by 1771, they lived on the Pennsylvania frontier in Northumberland County, which is present-day Union County.

Jean Baptiste Ste. Gemme dit Beauvais was born at Kaskaskia to Jean Baptiste Beauvais and Marie Louise Lacroix. Jean Baptiste was one of nine sons and five daughters born to the couple. Jean (the father) had moved from Montreal to the Illinois territory where he became one of the richest men, and his sons followed him into business.

Lori Lopez was just a child in the 1940s when she got her first teddy bear. Her most recent, a specialty bear from England, was a gift for her 89th birthday in September.
