Apprentice jockey Yedsit Hazlewood has earned immense attention early in his career in Maryland, but the 18-year-old rider’s star grew even brighter on Preakness Day at Laurel Park. After winning two races early on the card, he and 3-year-old colt Big Cuddle rolled home to win the $100,000 Sir Barton Stakes by a half-length.

Monmouth Park will postpone two $100,000 turf stakes this weekend because of “inclement weather.” The Cliff Hanger Stakes and Miss Liberty Stakes, which were scheduled to run on Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, will instead be run on Saturday, May 30, alongside the $100,000 Jersey Derby.

The Fair Hill Turf Showcase, a two-day meet featuring eight flat races on Sunday and nine steeplechase races on Monday, will be the second event hosted on the course since last August.
