Adrian Baston is one of the top high school leadoff men in Texas. He's batting.455 with a.561 on-base-percentage and a.677 slugging percentage (almost unheard for a leadoff man) and a 1.238 OPS. Baston has 45 hits in 35 games, scored 22 runs and driven in 43 runs, which is remarkable for a player hitting in the leadoff spot.

Corsicana's Connor Perkins, a sophomore, will likely pitch Game 2 of the best-of-three Area Round series against Hallsville Friday night. Perkins shut out Sherman 1-0 in last week's Bi-District round of the playoffs.

Corsicana outfielder Adrian Baston has been selected to play in the THSBA All-Star Game June 15 in Round Rock.

Kerens' Kannon Ritchie closed out the Area Round playoff series against Linden-Kildare Friday with a combined no-hitter. He went 6 2/3 innings and his twin brother Krayton came in to get the final out in the 4-0 win. Kannon also went 2-for-2 with a double, scored and drove in a run.

Lane Lynch, seen here in an earlier game, and the Kerens Bobcats are flying high in the Class 2A playoffs, starting out with sweeps over Price Carlisle and Linden-Kildare. The Ritchie Twins -- Kannon and Krayton -- have allowed just one hit in four games, a single in the playoff opener against Price Carlisle and Lynch, who is now the Kerens catcher, has led the offense.
