PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pikeville man was arrested Monday after Kentucky State Police say they found him with more than a pound of suspected methamphetamine and other suspected drugs. According to Kentucky State Police, troopers with the Post 9 Street Crimes Unit were attempting to locate 45-year-old William Cody West as part of an ongoing drug investigation, when they found him in the parking lot of the Scholar House apartments in downtown Pikeville. CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Logan County man who was arrested earlier this year on child porn charges is now facing even more serious charges in federal court. Clinton Gene McNeely, 31, of Lyburn, was arrested back in January on a charge of distributing and exhibiting material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. WHITESBURG, Ky. — The former sheriff charged with murder for the shooting death of a judge is taking his plea for bond to a higher court. Former Letcher County Sheriff Shawn Mickey Stines is charged in the Sept. 19, 2024, shooting death of Letcher District Judge Kevin Mullins, who was killed inside his chambers at the Letcher County Courthouse. LONDON, Ky. — Two Pike County residents intend to enter guilty pleas in a federal drug conspiracy case within the next week. Wayne Buzzard, 57, of Zebulon Highway, and Cathy McKinney, 54, of Island Creek, were arrested in March as part of a roundup by Pikeville Police. The following month, they were indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of conspiracy to distribute meth and possession of meth with the intent to distribute. PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County couple has been indicted on charges of child abuse. Kirt Ramey, 30, of Steele, and Teonna McNutt, 24, of Lick Creek, are each charged with first-degree abuse of a child 12 or younger. The indictment gives no details on the nature of the alleged abuse, but says it occurred between March 5 and 21. If convicted, each charge carries a potential sentence of 10-to-20 years in prison. DORTON, Ky. — A Kentucky State Police trooper and another man were injured early Saturday morning when a utility terrain vehicle collided with his cruiser in the Dorton community. The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team has been requested by Post 9 in Pikeville to investigate the collision, which occurred around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22. PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A Floyd County man who was arrested last week following a chase when police went to ask him about a stolen dirt bike is now facing additional charges. CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A West Virginia man has been indicted on a charge of distributing meth in two counties. Edwin Hugh Douglas, 58, of Vienna, is charged with a single count of distributing meth. He is accused of distributing more than 500 grams of the drug in Vienna, in Wood County, and in Williamson, in Mingo County, from February 2024 to May 2026. If convicted, he would face up to 20 years in prison. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
