Jim Michaelian's love of auto racing began when he was 12 or so, when he learned to drive a car on the back roads of his grandmother's vineyard in Fresno.

Tom Pontac, a Legacy Runner who had participated in every Long Beach Marathon since it started in 1982, died earlier this month — just hours before his 90th birthday.
