MARION — Williamson County and the City of Marion met April 24 in joint session to approve the funding for sports complex which has everyone excited.

MARION — As Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Illinois (BGCSI) runs a reopening campaign with a goal of $200,000, the BGCSI Board is working behind the scenes with local authorities to clean up its finances.

DE SOTO — A sinkhole has formed a mile or so north of De Soto, closing a strip of road a football field long and diverting traffic along a 21-mile detour.

MARION—Thirty five more cannabis dispensaries will soon hit the market in Illinois since the state issued conditional adult use dispensing organization licenses through the Social Equity Criteria Lottery (SECL), according to an announcement made by the governor's office and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Friday. But not one of them appear to be for Southern Illinois.

A sinkhole has formed on U.S. 51 in Southern Illinois, closing a strip of road a football field long and diverting traffic along a 21-mile detour.

The sinkhole is about five feet deep and spans about 25 feet of roadway on the U.S. 51 southbound side, about a mile north of De Soto in Jackson County.
