The spirit of the Founding Fathers is not always so easy to find in America itself. The American left, in particular, has not only lost it, but has actively turned against it. In one little-noted area of West Africa, however, that spirit is alive and well.

Eventually, the contradiction will become obvious to everyone: Western leftists claim to be concerned about women's rights, and yet they find a kinship with adherents of a religion that advises men to beat women from whom they “fear disobedience” (Qur'an 4:34), and that sanctions honor killing, which is the killing of wives or daughters who are considered to have besmirched in some way the family's honor, by choosing to live in the Western fashion, or by rejecting an arranged marriage, or some other misbehavior of that kind. The leftists can't condemn such things without being “Islamophobic,” and so they accept absurd situations such as this one. Ruslan Kutayev won't condemn honor murders or stand up for women fleeing violence in Chechnya, but he remains on Russian dissident advisory panel of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) because to remove him would be “Islamophobic.”

Hassan Khomeini is referring to the distinction in Islamic theology between the “greater jihad,” which is the interior spiritual struggle, and the “lesser jihad,” which is warfare against unbelievers.

The idea of statutory rape in U.S. law is based on the quite reasonable assumption that a child cannot reasonably consent to behavior he or she only dimly understands, if at all. Nor is a child's ability to assess possible consequences developed enough for reasonable consent to be considered to have been given. Maybe they don't have such laws in Italy, or maybe Judge Valeria Rey just didn't want to appear “Islamophobic.”

The People's Mujahideen Organisation of Iran would hardly be better than the Islamic Republic. Iran would just get Islamic rule with different rulers. But the disquieting aspect of this story is that the Islamic Republic of Iran appears to be calling the shots as to who can and cannot protest in far-off France.

Some residents may be fuming, as the headline below says, but many more are thrilled. Mass Somali Muslim migration has altered the demographics of Minnesota forever. The Rochester Public School district is merely recognizing the new realities, and bowing to the fact that Muslim students weren't coming to school on Eid al-Adha anyway. This is just a symptom of a much larger problem that no one wants to address, and most still dismiss as a “conspiracy theory,” and that problem is Islamization, the Islamization of Minnesota and, eventually, the U.S. as a whole.
