On Aug. 29 at about 1 p.m., Patrolman Kenneth Morales responded to CSL Plasma at 1450 Hartford Ave. in response to a reported assault between a patient and staff member. A woman had attempted to donate plasma but repeatedly disobeyed the rules of the check-in process, at which time a staff member asked her to leave. While being escorted out of the building, the woman punched the staff member in the left side of the face. Morales reviewed footage of the assault, which corroborated the employee’s report, and saw irritation on the left side of the employee’s face that was consistent with the described attack.

On Sept. 3, a North Kingstown man was arraigned on charges of felony shoplifting as well as a habitual offender misdemeanor. The charges pertained to an incident on Dec. 15, 2024 when the man arrived at the Home Depot location at 100 Stone Hill Drive in Johnston and placed 15 cases of Chiffon Oak flooring into a cart before leaving the store without paying for the items. He abandoned the cart in the parking lot upon observing an employee following him out of the store. The employee said they had recognized him from past shoplifting incidents. A query revealed that the man had three active bench warrants for shoplifting charges. On Sept. 3, the man was trespassed from the Home Depot location, held without bail as a violator and issued a court date for Dec. 13, 2025.

On Sept. 10 at about 10:30 p.m., Patrolman Matthew Lonardo observed a red Jeep traveling northbound on Killingly Street. The driver did not have a seat belt fastened. Lonardo initiated a motor-vehicle stop and spoke to the driver, observing a small white cellophane bag resting on top of the driver’s sweatshirt on his stomach which Lonardo believed to be cocaine. He told the driver to exit the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs.

On Sept. 17 at about 9:50 a.m., Patrolman Thomas Santurri was dispatched to the area of 2071 Plainfield St. for the report of a motor-vehicle accident involving an electric bicycle. Communications personnel advised that the suspect vehicle fled the scene traveling westbound and that there were possible injuries. Santurri spoke with the bicyclist, who had minor visible injuries. He stated he fell over the handlebars of the bicycle and landed on the pavement after feeling a jolt from behind.
