Lewis and Geller laughed that this was the Athens they loved that prompted them to start Kindercore Records in 1996.

Considering there are only a few local projects putting out industrial electronic music, those that are have built a strong presence in the Athens music scene. Aidan Jackson and Addy Root make up the duo Obscurity, and they say that they’ve found a “really good pocket” of support and have been taken in by the hardcore bands.

When local photographer and musician Michael Carnes got to know brothers Ian and Isaac White of the indie rock duo Jack & Jealous, he saw a story to tell that was a microcosm of Athens itself—and on a larger scale, that of bands everywhere. Carnes decided to tell this story through a 14-minute documentary now up on YouTube called I Can See It.

The Town & Gown Players have a run of shows for the musical She Loves Me, a classic romantic comedy that follows the tropes of secret pen pals and unexpected love. The tale is told through a fast-paced and high-energy production, where the stage is described by the theater troupe as being transformed “into a vibrant, living pop-up book.” This production is directed by Michael Fulford with musical direction led by Andrea Barry. Performances are scheduled for June 5–6 and 11–13 at 8 p.m. with 2 p.m. matinees on June 7 and 14. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for members, seniors and students.
