MORGANTOWN — West Virginia football had a busy weekend on the recruiting trail for the 2027 class, including picking up a top running back.

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia baseball’s Matthew Gravline threw down to third base to try to catch the North Carolina base runner. He had him dead, but Tyrus Hall didn’t catch the ball, sending it into the outfield, allowing a run. Ben Lumsden and Hall set up for a fly ball in foul territory, and the ball dropped to the left of both of them in fair play, setting up another run. Brodie Kresser tried to get a double play at second from first base and threw it wide right, making both Tar Heel runners safe.

MORGANTOWN — The North Carolina outfielder caught the ball and put an end to the 2026 West Virginia baseball season. It wrapped up a historic and exciting season.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — In the first inning of the semifinals against North Carolina, West Virginia baseball put Chansen Cole out on the mound. Cole had been dominant in the postseason, and he felt like he was only getting better as the season deepened. He pitched in the College World Series opener against Troy and threw 52 pitches on Friday, June 12. Cole didn't go too deep, which forced the Mountaineers to use Ian Korn in relief. Korn went an extensive six innings and threw 79 pitches.
