GREENVILLE - Longtime Chief Meteorologist Christopher Mathis bid farewell during his final weathercast at the Delta News after more than 25 years in the Greenville market. Mathis began working in Greenville in 1997 as WABG's morning weathercaster. Originally from northeast Alabama, Mathis is going back to his home state to take a position as a morning meteorologist at a station in Montgomery.

PEARL - Charleston wins the MHSAA Girls 2A Track and Field 2A State Title. The championship was held at Pearl High School.

GREENVILLE - Greenville Pro Wrestler, Charles Moore, has died. Moore, who was a frequent face on the Delta News, often put on matches in around the Delta, uplifting communities and encouraging children to stay in school. He was 52.

GREENVILLE - Humphreys Academy (3A) and Kirk Academy (4A) have both advanced to the MAIS State Baseball Championship Series. The finals will get underway next week when the Rebels will face Prairie View and the Raiders take on Tri-County.
