Amari Yolas, who received the Palisadian-Post Cup in 2023 as a three-sport star at Palisades High, has chosen to continue his collegiate baseball career at San Jose State next season. Having played the sport since he was five years old, the right-handed pitcher told the Palisadian-Post about his verbal commitment Saturday night.

The familiar sounds of sneakers squeaking and the hollow pop of ball meeting racquet were echoing through the Palisades Recreation Center last Saturday morning and it was music to the ears of Mike Tomas. Tomas took a video with his phone of the four upper tennis courts jam packed with players for a spirited session of LiveBall, the invention which three decades ago brought national attention to the public facility off Alma Real Drive.

More than 150 people gathered below the Lifeguard Headquarters at the south end of Will Rogers State Beach last Saturday morning for a fitting celebration of life in honor of beloved Palisades resident Jamison Lee “Hula” Witherill, who passed away April 20, 2025, at the age of 57.
