Long before official practice began for East River in its quest for a fourth consecutive FHSAA girls bowling state title, the Falcons and their top bowler were busy having national tournament success in the summer.

In the first Fox Squirrel Cup at Rio Pinar, Christian Koehn shot 33 for LHP in the win over Winter Park, which was led by Lawson Hovey's 32. Volleyball winners included Cypress Creek, Boone, Lake Howell, DeLand and Orangewood Christian.

Chase Bauer shot 2-under-par 34 for Windermere Prep boys golf, while while Kohen Kazmierczak had a complete match for DeLand volleyball. Other volleyball winners included Orangewood Christian, Winter Park, Freedom and Lake Mary Prep.

Ryker Huther is tied for first with 66 for Circle Christian boys golf on the first day of the Titan Invitational. Luke Kang sits in first all alone after a 69 for Trinity Prep on Day 1 of the Bishop McLaughlin Invitational. In volleyball, new Osceola County school Nova Lakes got its first win.

Aarush Sarkar shot 31 for Horizon boys golf in a win. Volleyball winners included St. Cloud, University, Umatilla and CFCA.

Bishop Moore, the Class 2A boys golf state champs last fall, is picking up where it left off with strong showings this season.

Michelle Lu shot 33 (-3) for Lake Nona girls golf, while Ryan Oats had the same score for Lake Mary boys. In boys bowling, Shelby Davis rolled a 289 game for East River, while Hagerty had high games from Jonathan Madruga (279) and Kaleb Jimenez (268).

Benjamin Srikittipraphat shot 34 (-4) for Celebration in a boys golf win. Jonathan Vinson-McFarland rolled games of 277 and 246 for Lyman boys bowling in a win. Volleyball winners included Orangewood Christian, Wekiva and Lake Buena Vista.

Mimi Angstrom had 12 kills and 12 digs for International Community in its volleyball win, while Oviedo went 2-1 in a Hawaii tourney.
