Arm wrestling fans can look forward to a match with major contenders right here in Lebanon this June. Drew Bishop is one of the main organizers for a local arm wrestling club. He is now working on a tournament to be held at Boat Town Brewing at 6 p.m. June 8. The public is invited. Bishop said he became interested in the sport about six years ago after he decided to give up bodybuilding. “I was looking for something else to do competitively and I got turned on to arm wrestling,” he said. Laclede County Republicans gathered at the Mills Center Thursday to hear from local and state candidates, including Secretary of State and candidate for Governor Jay Ashcroft. Ashcroft, who currently serves as Missouri Secretary of State, was the final speaker of the evening for the Lincoln Days event.
