A public open house for Cornwall road projects Thursday at the Benson Centre's Automotive Room previewed what local residents could be experiencing in 2024.

The city's housing facility that opened in early July at 550 Ninth St. E. was dirty and damaged before the end of the summer, documents indicate.

Article content McCuaig, who started his minor hockey career in the Char-Lan association, had 19 goals and 19 assists for 38 points in 38 games this season for the Wild. Protect 2 (second round) for Cornwall was Long Sault's A.J. Alejandrino, 16; in 32 games in 2023-24 he had 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points. The 2024 draft marked a departure from previous seasons, as it focused on U16, U18, and lower-tier junior eligible players, rather than on graduating U15 players. The draft had a structured format where the first two rounds were dedicated exclusively to players born in 2008. Subsequent rounds were open to all eligible players born in 2006, 2007, and 2008 who were registered with a Hockey Eastern Ontario team this season and not included on any CCHL team's Protect List. Three blue-liners were selected next – Kale Grant (Wild U16 AAA), 16, of Cornwall, in the fourth round, Nicolas Levesque (Wild U16 AAA), 16, of Casselman, in the fifth round, and Chancey Novosad (Ottawa Jr. 67s U18 AAA), in the sixth round. And, in the arenas, the Smiths Falls Bears and Navan Grads have been battling in the CCHL best-of-seven final. Both games so far have gone into overtime, the series is tied 1-1, and Game 3 is Wednesday night. Advertisement 5 Article content Ageless Andrew Schembri (he's 41), of Mississauga, has had a remarkable 17-year pro career, and the forward lines up for Eisbaren Regensburg. Schembri, who played in 48 season games and collected 20 points, had a 113-point campaign for the Colts in 2002-03, before skating for the NCAA Division 1 Ohio State Buckeyes. Boisvert too is a former Buckeye, and the last 11 years of his 15-year pro career were in Germany; he retired as a player in 2015. Boisvert in 1995-96 put together the all-time greatest season for a Colts' player, collecting 40 goals and 90 assists for a whopping 130 points in 52 games.
