BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A ridge of high pressure over the eastern half of the US is set to bring us some hot and humid weather for the remainder of our week... providing us with more of a tropical feeling to lead us into the upcoming holiday weekend. With the increase in heat and humidity... each day will carry the chance for a few showers and thunderstorms popping up but overall it looks like the shower activity will be very isolated and none of the days will be washouts... by any means. That being said... there will be plenty of heat and humidity available to fuel showers and thunderstorms that do develop and therefore... any of the thunderstorms could become strong to even severe and will likely produce very heavy rainfall at the least.

The heat and humidity remains our main forecast concern for one more day.

Morning clouds will give way to partly to mostly sunny skies as high pressure builds in from the west.

A cold front moving southward across the state will bring us a chance for some scattered showers and thunderstorms mainly during the afternoon and evening.

Skies will then brighten up and turn a mix of sun and clouds by late morning through the afternoon.

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Hope you enjoyed the weekend weather! The good news is... we continue that nice weather into our Monday. We'll see some sunshine this morning giving way to increasing clouds later this morning through the afternoon as an upper-level disturbance approaches. This upper-level disturbance will touch of a few isolated showers across northern and western areas this afternoon into the evening. Temperatures today will top off in the 70s to near 80° along the coast and low to mid-80s inland and north. Any lingering showers this evening will wind down by midnight otherwise look for a partly to mostly cloudy sky for the night with lows dropping to the upper 50s to mid-60s.

Stay tuned for updates online and on our app as the severe weather risk hasn't changed with the potential of isolated tornadoes... large hail... damaging winds... frequent lightning... and torrential downpours all in play later this afternoon through the first half of the night tonight.

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A cold front will continue to push southward through the state this morning and offshore this afternoon. We could see a few isolated showers and thunderstorms with the frontal passage this morning and there may be enough lingering instability this afternoon to continue the chance of a few isolated showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon hours. Overall the shower chances are very minimal and most areas will likely stay dry. The pressure gradient will tighten up behind the departing cold front leading to a gusty northwest wind today with gusts to 25-30 MPH possible. This will usher drier... less humid air into the region this morning. Dew points are starting out in the 60s to around 70° for many locales and will drop to the 50s from north to south this morning into the afternoon making for a much more comfortable feel to the air by afternoon. We're starting the day with lots of wildfire smoke still in the atmosphere giving us a hazy/smoky appearance to the sky and this will lead to elevated particle pollution levels into the “moderate” category so if this is something you are sensitive too... you'll want to try and take it easy today. The gusty breeze will help to clear out some of the wildfire smoke allowing skies to brighten as we head through the morning followed by a mix of sun and clouds for the afternoon. Temperatures still be plenty warm today with highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s. We'll see clear skies and comfortable conditions tonight with lows in the mid-50s to low 60s.

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A cold front is forecast to move into northern Maine later this morning then cross through the state during the afternoon hours. Morning sunshine will give way to increasing clouds as the front approaches. The front will bring showers and thunderstorms to northern areas later this morning with the rest of the state seeing scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Some of the storms could be on the stronger side with gusty winds and heavy rainfall. The shower and thunderstorm activity will wind down later afternoon and early this evening as the cold front pushes offshore. It'll be breezy again today with west/northwest winds gusting to 25-30 MPH at times. Temperatures today will be in the 70s for most locales with some mid to upper 60s possible across the north. Any lingering clouds will clear out as we head into the night tonight. It'll be a bit cooler tonight with lows in the 50s for most spots... a few upper 40s will be possible across the north.
